Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, January 4

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, January 4, 2022:

High pressure along the Mid-Atlantic coast will keep our weather quiet today while also supplying some warmer air.

Skies will be a mix of sun and clouds today. The clouds that will be possible will be from a combination of some limited early lake influences, the influx of warmer air, and the initial approach of a new weather system from the west.

No rain or snow is expected from any of the clouds, and most of the day should have at least partial sunshine.

Winds will be from the southwest on the backside of the high pressure system before turning to the south this evening. Wind speeds during the day will be around or just over 5 mph but will increase to 10-15 mph tonight.

The sunshine and southerly flow will help temperatures warm from a chilly start. Afternoon highs should be into the mid 30s with most areas getting above 35 degrees.

After sunset, temperatures will drop to the mid 20s. Some clouds and the south winds will hold temperatures there throughout the overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Wednesday: Clouds and some sun. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.
