Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Wednesday’s events:
Varsity Girls Basketball: Homer vs. Phoenix
The Homer Lady Trojans defeated Phoenix 63-52 at home Wednesday evening.
With this win, the Lady Trojans are now 7-2 overall.
Homer was led by Catherine Apker (28 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists & 6 steals) and Sarah Sovocool (21 points, 2 rebounds, 8 assists, 8 steals & 2 blocks).
Note: Individual stats for the Phoenix girls basketball team were not available at the time this article was written.
Up next, Homer will take on Skaneateles on the road this Friday (January 14th) at 6:30pm.
Varsity Boys Basketball: Marathon vs. Groton
The Marathon Olympians lost a close game to Groton with a score of 44-48 Wednesday night.
The Olympians were led by Conor Holland (32 points), Braeden Morrison (10 points), and Drew Rozewski (2 points).
Groton was led by Omari Riley-Israel (10 points) and Mason Slade (8 points).
With this loss, the Olympians now hold a 2-6 record.
Up next, Marathon will play on the road against Odessa Montour Central this Friday (January 14th) at 7:30pm.

The Marathon Olympians defeated Lansing 60-9 last night on the road.
