Cortland Weather Outlook: Sunday, January 16

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Sunday, January 16, 2022:

High pressure passing to the east today will make for a quiet and not as cold daytime, but a large winter storm will be hot on its heels, arriving this evening.

Sunny skies will dominate the morning. Some clouds will start to move in from the south during the afternoon and should become rather thick by the time the sun sets.

No precipitation is expected until the mid-evening hours with snow starting in the 8-10 PM time frame. The snow will quickly become steady and heavy with sleet mixing in after midnight. Areas of freezing rain may also be possible overnight.

Due to the mixing of precipitation types, accumulations will be held in check, with 1-3 inches by dawn Monday.
