Cortland County COVID-19 Wrap-Up for Tuesday, Jan. 18

Here is a breakdown of COVID-19 numbers in Cortland County from the week of Jan. 10-16 to Tuesday, Jan. 18. It is based on recorded information from the Cortland County Health Department.

On Tuesday, Jan. 18, the county reported 189 active positive cases, 14 hospitalizations, and two new deaths. Since Jan. 14, there have been 443 positive cases and nine hospitalizations.

As of Jan. 18, there have been 10,714 total positive cases, 438 total hospitalizations and 92 deaths in the county. According to the county, the daily and 7-day average of positive tests amongst county residents is 20.6% and 17.9%, respectively.

Active positive cases between Jan. 14-18 have gone and fluctuated from 296 to 189. Hospitalizations have increased from six to 14 since Jan. 14.

According to the county health department’s COVID-19 update for the week of Jan. 10-16, there were 1,174 positive cases, 10 hospitalizations and no deaths.

Of the 189 active cases as of 8 a.m. on Jan. 18, 91 of them self-reported that they are fully vaccinated. According to the county health department, county residents “who do not self-report they are vaccinated may be unvaccinated, chose not to provide vaccination status, or vaccination status was not collected during case investigation.”

As of Jan. 18, the percentage of county residents fully vaccinated is 57.4%, with 63.8% of residents that are 12 years-or-older reported as fully vaccinated. The percentage of county residents between the ages of 5-and-11 that is fully vaccinated is 19.6%. Additional county numbers show that 47.1% of county residents are fully vaccinated with a booster shot.
