Your Cortland County weather forecast for Saturday, January 22, 2022:

Considering the frigid start to today, rather significant warming will take place by this afternoon.

High pressure will keep skies sunny through the morning before some thin clouds gradually increase this afternoon.

South winds around 5 mph on the backside of the high will also blow throughout the day.

Temperatures will add 30 to 40 degrees over this morning with highs in the upper teens to near 20 degrees.

No precipitation is expected as the clouds move in this afternoon, or as they thicken further this evening. Only a small chance for a few snow showers will exist well after midnight as lake effect develops off Lake Erie.

Nighttime winds will turn to the west to bring some of those Lake Erie flurries eastward toward our region. Little to no snow accumulation is expected.

It will not be nearly as cold tonight thanks to the clouds and winds. Evening temperatures will drop into the mid teens with overnight lows near or just above 10 degrees.

Monday: Some early sun. Then, increasing clouds with a few late snow showers. Morning lows -5 to -10. Afternoon highs near 20.

Tuesday: Cloudy with snow showers, mostly in the morning. Morning temperatures in the upper 20s. Afternoon temperatures in the mid 20s.

Wednesday: A few lake effect snow showers. Morning temperatures in the low 0s. Afternoon temperatures in the mid 0s.
