Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, January 25

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, January 25, 2022:

After a weak low pressure system moved through last night, a cold front will make its way through late today.

West-northwest winds will blow at around 10 mph in the wake of the low throughout the daytime hours today. A few gusts could reach 25 mph.

These winds will not have too much of a cooling effect, though, and will mostly just work to offset the typical daytime heating cycle. As such, temperatures will hover in the low and mid 20s throughout the daytime.

A few stray snow showers off Lake Ontario will be possible, but by and large, most of the time it will be quiet. Any snow that does fall should not amount to much.

Tonight, the wind will turn more northerly as the front moves south. Snow showers may increase along the front, but should clear out quickly, leaving most of the night dry.

Temperatures will take a dive behind the front, though. By dawn Wednesday, it will be near or just above zero degrees.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Wednesday: Maybe a few early flurries. Then, sunny. Morning temperatures near or just above zero degrees. Afternoon highs in the upper 0s.

Thursday: Thin clouds. Morning lows -5 to -10. Afternoon highs near 20.

Friday: Cloudy with a few snow showers. Morning lows in the mid 10s. Afternoon highs in the mid 20s.

Saturday: Clouds and increasing sun. Morning lows in the low 0s. Afternoon highs near 10.
