Cortland Weather Outlook: Thursday, January 27

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, January 27, 2022:

High pressure departing the region will leave us with a quiet weather day.

Sunshine this morning will mix with thin clouds out ahead of the next weather maker. Over time, the amount of sunshine able to filter through the clouds will decrease, and much of the afternoon will be overcast.

However, no precipitation is expected during the daytime hours or even during the evening. It will not be until after midnight that some snow showers move in.

South winds have already kicked in on the backside of the high and will continue throughout the day. Wind speeds will be around 10 mph with gusts around, or just over, 25 mph.

The south winds and partial sunshine should help temperatures warm from a chilly start. Look for highs this afternoon into the low 20s, which is still a bit below the climatological average, but not too far off for late January.

Temperatures will drop to around 20 this evening and remain there through the night.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Friday: Mostly cloudy with a few snow showers. Morning lows in the around 20. Afternoon highs in the mid 20s.

Saturday: Clouds with some late sun. Morning lows in the low -0s. Afternoon highs near 10.

Sunday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows near 0. Afternoon highs in the mid 10s.

Monday: More sun than clouds. Morning lows near 0. Afternoon highs in the mid 20s.
