Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, February 1

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, February 1, 2022:

High pressure will still be in control of the weather today, but a developing frontal system to our west will introduce some clouds.

These clouds will mainly be high in the atmosphere, which means at least some sunshine should filter through the clouds. There could be quite a bit of sun through the morning before the clouds fully establish themselves.

This afternoon, the clouds may become thicker, reducing the available sunlight.

No precipitation will fall from any of the clouds, though.

South-southeast winds will blow at speeds up to 10 mph this morning, increasing to 10-15 mph this afternoon and evening. Higher elevations could see gusts around 35 mph tonight.

The wind will facilitate additional warming with highs making it to the low 30s this afternoon. Evening temperatures will mostly be in the low and mid 20s with cloudy but dry conditions overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Wednesday: Cloudy. Perhaps some evening rain or snow showers. Morning lows in the low and mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Thursday: An icy mix of precipitation likely. Temperatures steady in the low 30s.

Friday: A few early snow showers. Then some sun. Morning lows in the mid teens. Afternoon highs in the low 20s.

Saturday: A few early lake flakes. Then, some sun. Morning lows near 5. Afternoon highs near 10.
