Cortland County High School Sports Recaps: Boys & Girls Basketball (February 10th)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Thursday’s events:

Varsity Girls Basketball: Homer vs. Phoenix

The Homer Lady Trojans defeated Phoenix 79-51 on the road Thursday night. 

Homer has been ranked #17 in the state for Class B since February 8th.

The Lady Trojans were led by Sarah Sovocool (27 points), Catherine Apker (19 points), and Gracie Patriarco (16 points). 

Phoenix was led by Sara Ruetsch (21 points) and Ava Kuropatwinski (11 points). 

With this win the Lady Trojans improved their overall record to 14-3.

Up next, Homer will host Seton Catholic tonight Friday (February 11th) at 6:30pm. 

Varsity Girls Basketball: McGraw vs. Stockbridge Valley (SBV)

The McGraw Lady Eagles lost their last game of the regular season against Stockbridge Valley (SBV) with a score of 21-39. 

McGraw was led by Hannah Wilson (7 points) and Heather Magee (6 points). 

SBV was led by Alissa Mazzye (9 points) and Layla Jayson (8 points). 

With this loss, McGraw ended their season with an overall record of 2-11. 

Varsity Boys Basketball: Cincinnatus vs. McGraw

The Cincinnatus Lions defeated the McGraw Eagles in a Cortland County rivalry game with a score of 57-36. 

Cincinnatus has been ranked #7 in the state for Class D since February 8th.
