Cortland Weather Outlook: Saturday, February 19

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Saturday, February 19, 2022:

Another cold front will move through the area today, bringing cold air and strong winds.

Snow showers will be possible ahead of the front this morning. The front itself should move through sometime in the late morning or midday hours.

Along the front, a quick burst of heavy snow will be possible. This may make for briefly hazardous travel conditions.

Behind the front, several hours of mainly dry weather are likely. During this time, west winds will greatly increase, with speeds up to 20 mph and gusts up to 45 mph.

The wind will gradually shift to the northwest and lose some of its steam late in the day. Lake effect snow showers will move in around sunset and persist for a few hours into the evening.

After midnight, winds will turn back to the south, removing the lake effect and leading to clearing skies.

Temperatures will peak just before the cold front moves through late this morning, topping out around or just under 30 degrees.

Afternoon temperatures will then fall to the low 20s, followed by evening temperatures in the low 10s. As skies clear late overnight, temperatures may be able to slip into the single digits before the south winds start to warm things back up for Sunday.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:
