Cortland County High School Sports Recaps: Boys & Girls Basketball (February 19th)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Saturday events:

Varsity Boys Basketball: McGraw vs. Hamilton

The McGraw Eagles (#17 seed) lost a tough game against Hamilton (#1 seed) in the second round of the Section III Class D Sectional Tournament with a score of 14-85. 

The Eagles were led by Nick Sutton (5 points), Quentin Burdick (3 points), and Krysthin Whibble (3 points). 

Hamilton was led by Sami Cigeroglu (19 points) and Zachary LaFrance (15 points). 

With this loss, the Eagles ended their season with an overall record of 6-13. 

Varsity Boys Basketball: Cincinnatus vs. Brookfield

The Cincinnatus Lions (#3 seed) advanced to the quarter-final stage of the Section III Class D Tournament after drafting Brookfield (#19 seed) with a score of 59-41.

Up next, Cincinnatus will host Madison (#6 seed) in the quarter-final round of the sectional tournament. The game is scheduled to tip off at 6pm on Tuesday (February 22nd). 

Varsity Girls Basketball: Homer vs. Bishop Grimes

The Homer Lady Trojans (#5 seed) lost 44-47 in double overtime against Bishop Grimes (#12 seed) in the second round of the Section III Class B Sectional Tournament. 

During the game Gracie Patriarco became the Homer girls basketball’s all-time leading scorer.
