Your Cortland County weather forecast for Sunday, February 27, 2022:

A cold front will bring an afternoon burst of snow to the area.

Before this happens, sunshine will be plentiful this morning. Toward the midday and early afternoon, clouds ahead of the cold front will start to increase.

The front should arrive during the mid to late afternoon hours. Accompanying the front will be a squall with brief but heavy snow. Rapidly changing road conditions and low visibility will make for a small period of hazardous travel.

Winds ahead of the front will be from the southwest at up to 10 mph. As the front moves through, winds will turn to the northwest and increase to 15 mph. Northwest winds will continue into the evening, with speeds dropping back to around 10 mph.

Top gusts will come during and just behind the squall, clocking in at 35-40 mph.

Afternoon highs will reach about 30 degrees. With the front, temperatures will drop a couple degrees. Nighttime temperatures will then fall through the 20s, 10s, and single digits, ending up near 0 by Monday morning.
