Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, March 1

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, March 1, 2022:

A frontal boundary moved through the area overnight, opening the area up to some milder temperatures.

South winds will blow throughout the daytime hours in the wake of this front. Wind speeds will be near or just over 10 mph with top gusts in the 25-30 mph range. The strongest winds will be over the hilltops.

Temperatures have already been on the rise overnight and will continue to steadily climb. By this afternoon highs should be around or just over 40 degrees.

Skies will be rather cloudy, though some breaks of sun here and there will be possible. The best chance for some sun will be during the morning and midday hours.

Tonight, an area of low pressure will move into the area. Some light snow showers will result, possibly mixing with a little rain early on. This will be followed by a few overnight lake effect flurries.

Accumulations should be limited to a coating with the snow ending before sunrise.

With the clouds and precipitation, nighttime temperatures should settle in the mid 20s.

Wednesday: Clouds and some breaks of sun. Evening and overnight snow. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s. 

Thursday: Morning clouds and lake snows. Afternoon sun. Breezy with blowing snow. Morning temperatures in the upper 10s. Afternoon temperatures in the mid 10s.

Friday: Sun and thin clouds. Morning lows near 0. Afternoon highs in the upper 20s.

Saturday: Light mixed precipitation. Morning lows in the upper 10s. Afternoon highs in the low 30s.
