Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, March 4, 2022:

High pressure will be in control of the weather today, resulting in plenty of sunshine.

There will be a few clouds mixing in with the sunshine at times. Most of these will be thin clouds that will do little to block the sun. Late in the afternoon, some more substantial, but still thin clouds will move in.

The clouds will thicken through the evening and overnight, but no precipitation is expected during the daytime or nighttime hours.

Winds will be from the southwest this morning before turning more westerly this afternoon. Morning winds will be near or under 5 mph while afternoon winds will be slightly above 5 mph.

Nighttime winds will generally remain out of the west, though some wobbles north and south at times will be possible. Wind speeds will persist around 5 mph until going calm late overnight.

The sunshine will help temperatures rebound from a cold start this morning. Look for afternoon highs in the upper 20s for the hills in the northern part of the county with low 30s across the southern half.

Nighttime temperatures will fall back into the mid 10s with a few colder pockets in the low 10s. In the predawn hours, warmer air will start to move in, pushing temperatures to the upper 10s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Saturday: Cloudy. A few stray flurries or showers. Morning lows in the upper 10s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Sunday: Breezy and warm with occasional rain showers. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.
