Your Cortland County weather forecast for Sunday, March 6, 2022:

Today will be the warmest day so far in 2022 and it will not even be particularly close.

Gusty southwest winds developed last night and will strengthen more this morning, pushing the warm air into the area. Wind speeds will be 15-20 mph with gusts of 40-50 mph. The strongest winds will come during the afternoon.

Temperatures will soar into the 60s and there is a good chance at reaching or exceeding 65 degrees today for most of the county.

In addition to the wind and warm temperatures, a few scattered rain showers will be possible from time to time. None of the rain should be heavy or long lasting.

The best chance for rain will come through the mid-morning hours and again early this evening.

A front will drop through the area tonight, turning winds to the west and greatly reducing wind speeds. Temperatures will fall quickly through the 50s and 40s, ending up in the low 30s by Monday morning.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Monday: Cloudy with periods of rain, possibly with some snow mixing in at first this morning. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.

Tuesday: Cloudy with snow showers, especially in the morning. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows near 20. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Thursday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.
