Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, March 11, 2022:

An approaching cold front will stay to the west during the daytime hours, leaving our area dry and mild ahead of our next winter weather event.

The best chance for some sunshine will be early this morning. Even then, the sun will likely be filtered through thin clouds.

The cloud will only increase and thicken as the day goes on,  but no precipitation is expected before sunset.

A few scattered rain showers will move in Friday evening. These will turn to snow around midnight with the snow possibly becoming heavy thereafter. By Saturday morning, at least a couple inches will already be on the ground.

Winds today will primarily be light, coming from the south at or under 5 mph. Late in the afternoon, the wind may pick up for a brief time before dropping again after sunset.

After midnight, the cold front will move through, turning the wind to the northwest. Wind speeds will increase to near 10 mph overnight with gusts around 25 mph by dawn.

Temperatures will be mild this afternoon, topping out in the mid 40s. Evening temperatures will take their time settling into the mid 30s, where they will remain until the predawn hours as they fall to near 30.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:
