Your Cortland County weather forecast for Sunday, March 13, 2022:

Winds are undergoing a shift early this morning to the southwest as a weak disturbance approaches the area.

This wind shift has removed the lake effect from the area and will lead to some sunshine this morning. Clouds will thicken for the afternoon as the disturbance moves in.

Scattered snow showers will accompany the clouds this afternoon. The snow will be light, so accumulations should be limited to a coating, if that.

After a few hours of snow showers, the disturbance will move along and skies will turn partly cloudy to mostly clear for the nighttime hours.

Wind speeds will be around 10 mph today. Gusts may exceed 25 mph at times, which will lead to some localized areas of blowing and drifting snow, especially where the lake effect piled up overnight.

Temperatures will be below average for mid-March, but not brutally cold, with highs topping out in the mid 20s. With southwest winds continuing tonight, temperatures will not drop much.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Monday: Morning sunshine. Afternoon clouds. Morning lows near 20. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy. A few rain showers. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Wednesday: Lots of sun. Morning lows near 30. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.

Thursday: Sun and thin clouds. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs near 60.
