Cortland Weather Outlook: Saturday, March 19

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Saturday, March 19, 2022:

Today will be the final warm day in the current weather pattern as a cold front moves through late in the afternoon.

Much of the day will turn out dry, but stray, brief showers will be possible at any time. Outside of any of these isolated showers, skies will be a mix of clouds and some breaks of sun.

South winds will increase to 10-15 mph. Higher elevations may see gusts over 30 mph.

This will add up to another day in the 60s. Eastern parts of the county may stick to the low 60s, but most of the county should be in the mid 60s.

Late this afternoon, showers and thunderstorms will develop along the cold front to the west. These will form into broken line by the time they arrive here after 5 PM.

While the thunderstorms may not have a lot of lightning with them, there is still a chance for some severe thunderstorms due to ample wind energy in the atmosphere. Damaging wind gusts will be the primary threat, though most areas will not see these.

A few more stray showers will be possible during the evening and overnight hours. Cooler air will gradually seep in with evening temperatures around 50 and overnight lows near 40.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Sunday: Rain showers through the early afternoon, possible with some wet snow mixing in. Maybe some very late sun. Morning lows near 40. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Monday: Sunshine early, then some clouds late. Morning lows near 30. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Tuesday: More clouds than sun. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs near 40.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with rain showers, possible with some snow mixing in. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs near 40.
