Your Cortland County weather forecast for Monday, March 28, 2022:

Cold, blustery northwest winds will continue today, leading to periods of lake effect snow as well.

The northwest winds will blow at speeds of 15-20 mph today with gusts as high as 40 mph. These winds will be just a bit stronger than the wind yesterday.

Areas of blowing snow will result from the wind, even when it is not actively snowing. There will be snow showers around too, though, especially during the morning hours and again late this afternoon and evening.

Additional accumulations this morning and tonight will each be anywhere from a light coating to a couple of inches.

Temperatures will struggle today and will top out over twenty degrees below the climatological average.

Areas from Cortland south have the best shot at breaking into the low 20s. The hills in the northern part of the county will stick to the upper 10s.

Tonight, temperatures will retreat to the mid 10s and remain there through the overnight. The winds should let up somewhat after sunset with gusts mostly around 25 mph.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Tuesday: Morning clouds and maybe a flurry. Afternoon sun. Morning lows in the mid 10s. Afternoon highs near 30.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with a few showers. Morning lows in the upper 10s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.
