Cortland Weather Outlook: Thursday, March 31

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, March 31, 2022:

A warm and windy day is ahead with a small chance for some thunderstorms ahead of a cold front.

Showers will be possible at any time today, but much of the time it will actually be dry. The sun should dart in and out of the clouds, helping temperatures warm.

The main driving force of the warmer air will be strong south winds. Wind gusts of 35-45 mph will be commonplace throughout the day.

This will help temperatures into the low and mid 60s this afternoon. That will be just enough to support a low chance for some thunderstorms.

The best chance for showers and any thunderstorms will be in the latter half of the afternoon. Precipitation will still be scattered. If any thunderstorms manage to develop, damaging winds or even some hail may be possible.

Most, if not all the area will not see severe weather, though.

Temperatures will drop through the 40s this evening with a few more scattered showers. The overnight will be mostly dry but temperatures will continue to fall, ending up in the mid 30s by dawn Friday.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Friday: Rain showers, mixing with snow in the afternoon. Windy. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Midday highs near 40 with 30s in the afternoon.

Saturday: A mix of sun and clouds, gradually becoming mostly cloudy. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Sunday: Cloudy with rain showers possible. Morning lows near 30.  Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Monday: Cloudy with rain showers possible. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.
