Construction for the Clinton Avenue Gateway Project continues this upcoming Monday, according to City of Cortland Department of Public Works Deputy Superintendent Alan Ricottilli on Thursday.

A third-party contracting company will handle construction, Ricottilli said, which has taken care of construction on Clinton Avenue from the start.

Ricottilli noted the contracting company will begin with work at the railroad track near Greenbush Street and further work “up past Greenbush Street,” he added.

The contracting company, Ricottilli said, will work its way down towards Clinton Avenue and Main Street. Work on the site will include milling out the road, work on utilities, and work on the sanitary and storm sewers, he added.

Construction on the stretch between Greenbush and Main Street could last until near the end of construction season, Ricottilli said.

Parts of Clinton Avenue will be closed off in sections, Ricottilli said. The first part closed off will go from the railroad tracks to Greenbush Street, then from Greenbush Street to Church Street, and lastly from Church Street to Main Street.

Alternative routes during construction along Clinton Avenue would include Elm Street, and potential for traffic to go through N. Greenbush and N. Church Streets, Ricottilli said. He added, however, further detour routes will be noted soon.

“It’s going to be nice to have the gateway project complete soon,” Ricottilli said.
