Cortland Weather Outlook: Friday, April 8

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, April 8, 2022:

A cooler air moves in above the surface, daytime heating will pop up some afternoon showers.

Sunshine early today will start to mix with clouds during the second half of the morning. The clouds will continue to increase through the midday and afternoon hours.

Some breaks of sun between the clouds will still be possible. Scattered afternoon showers will also pop up. 

The individual showers will be short lived but could have some briefly heavy rain or even a little small hail. Not all areas will see heavier showers, and some areas may even remain mostly dry throughout the day.

The shower activity will dissipate late this afternoon as the sun sinks lower in the sky. Partly cloudy to at times mostly clear skies are expected this evening.

New clouds will be possible after midnight with some rain or snow showers towards dawn Saturday.

Winds today will be from the west and southwest at 5-10 mph. The wind will drop late this afternoon and become light and variable for a time. South winds under 5 mph will then develop for the overnight.

High temperatures today will reach the low 50s. Evening temperatures will quickly drop the mid 30s. Overnight temperatures will bottom out just above 30 degrees around 3 AM, then rise back to the mid 30s by dawn.

Saturday: Scattered showers and maybe some wet snowflakes. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Sunday: Snow showers, mixing with rain during the late morning and afternoon.  Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Monday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.

Tuesday: Sun and clouds. A few showers. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs near 70.
