SUNY Cortland graduate Aljamain Sterling (20-3 record) is set to fight Petr Yan (16-2) in an Ultimate Fighting Championship bantamweight division title rematch on Saturday at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla.

Saturday’s fight between Sterling and Yan is part of the main card. It is also a co-main event alongside the featherweight division title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Chan Sung Jung.

Sterling’s fight for the bantamweight championship crown is going to be televised at The Rock Sports Bar & Grill on 7 Tompkins St. in the City of Cortland.

Sterling, the current UFC bantamweight champion, defeated Yan on March 6 last year for the bantamweight title. Sterling won the fight by disqualification after an intentionally illegal knee move from Yan. Sterling became the first fighter in UFC history to win a championship by disqualification.

During his time with the Red Dragons wrestling squad, Sterling was a two-time NCAA Division III All-American and compiled a 87-27 record on the mat.
