Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (April 9th)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Saturday’s events:

Varsity Girls Lacrosse: Homer vs. Penn Yan

The Homer Lady Trojans improved their overall record to 4-0 after defeating Penn Yan on Saturday with a score of 14-6. 

Homer was led by Camryn Calabro (4 goals & 7 assists), Kloey Roos (5 goals & 2 assists), Gracie Patriarco (3 goals & 2 assists), and Hannah Slade (2 goals). 

Homer goalie Sarah Sovocool made 11 saves in the game. 

Note: Individual stats for Penn Yan were not available at the time this article was written. 

Up next, the Lady Trojans will host Mexico on Tuesday (April 19th) at 7pm. 

Varsity Boys Lacrosse: Homer vs. Cazenovia

The Homer Trojans lost a close game against Cazenovia with a score of 10-12. 

With this loss, the Trojans now hold an overall record of 2-2. 

The Trojans were led by Jake Calabro (3 goals & 1 assist), Sam Bieber (3 goals & 1 assist), Reid Partis (2 goals & 1 assist), Logan Goodman (1 goal), Wyatt Wilbur (1 goal), and Evan Butts (1 assist). 

Cazenovia was led by Brody Coleman (6 goals & 3 assists), Forrest Ives (4 goals & 1 assist), Wyatt Hartley (1 goal), and James LeFever (1 goal). 

Homer goalie Benjamin Bradhaw made 6 saves in the game, while Tucker Ives made 5 saves for Cazenovia. 

Homer’s next game is scheduled to be played at home against Carthage on Tuesday (April 12th) at 11am. 

Varsity Boys Lacrosse: Cortland vs. Chenango Valley

The Cortland Purple Tigers lost a tough home game to Chenango Valley with a final score of 6-15 on Saturday.

Cortland’s next game will be played today (April 11th) against Syracuse at Corcoran High School. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm.
