Homer Trojans Beat Phoenix in Double-Header (Photos Included)

The Homer Trojans defeated Phoenix in both games of their double-header showdown on Monday (April 11th). 

The Trojans won the first game 17-1 and the second game 7-1. 

With these two wins, the Trojans now hold a 3-1 overall record. 

Here is a summary of both games:

Game 1:

The Homer Trojans came out hot in the opening three innings of game one of the double-header, after scoring 12 unanswered runs. 

The Trojans went on to score 5 additional runs to win the game. 

Homer was led by Joey Case (3 runs, 3 hits & 2 RBI’s), Zander Johnson (2 runs, 2 hits & 3 RBI’s), Tristan Allen (2 runs, 2 hits & 1 RBI), Jon Barnes (2 runs, 2 hits & 1 RBI), Tanner Douglass (1 run, 1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Mitchell Earle (1 run & 1 hit), Braden Marsh (1 run & 1 hit), Maddox Johnson (1 run & 1 hit), Sage Bischoff (2 hits & 1 RBI), Logan Swartz (1 run), Troy Tinkham (1 run), Noah Young (1 run), Ian Gilbert (1 run), and Brycen Coggins (1 RBI). 

Phoenix's only run of the game was scored by Cameron Dryer. 

Homer pitchers Joey Case (5) and Zander Johnson (3) combined for a total of 8 strikeouts thrown; while Anthony Guglielmo II (2) and Cameron Dryer (2) threw a combined total of 4 strikeouts for Phoenix.

Game 2:

The Trojans kept pushing the tempo in the second game of the double-header after obtaining an early 2-0 lead at the end of the first inning. 

Homer would go on to score 5 additional runs in the fourth and fifth inning to end the game. 

Homer’s offense was led by Joey Case (2 runs & 2 hits), Tristan Allen (2 runs & 2 hits), Jon Barnes (1 run & 1 hit), Tanner Douglass (1 run, 2 hits & 3 RBI’s), Maddox Johnson (1 run, 2 hits & 1 RBI), and Ian Gilbert (1 hit). 

Phoenix was led by Jacob Neupert (1 hit & 1 run), Ty Corey (1 hit & 1 RBI), Matthew Bernard (1 hit), and Jonathan Hayes (1 hit).

Homer pitchers Mitchell Earle (11) and Tristan Allen (5) combined to throw a total of 16 strikeouts. 

Ty Corey (8) and Matthew Bernard (1) threw a total of 9 strikeouts.
