New York Lt. Gov. Brian Benjamin (D) was arrested Tuesday morning in connection to a bribery scheme, according to the Associated Press.

Benjamin has been accused of being involved in a scheme to acquire campaign contributions from an unnamed real estate developer, in exchange for the Lieutenant Governor’s agreement to use his impact as a state senator to obtain a $50,000 state-funded grant for a not-for-profit organization the developer managed.

Benjamin has been charged with bribery, fraud, conspiracy and falsification of records.
