Your Cortland County weather forecast for Wednesday, April 13, 2022:
Today will be the warmest day so far in 2022 thanks to an early morning warm front moving through the area.
A few showers and perhaps a couple rumbles of thunder will be possible through the early morning. Not all areas will see rain, and most of the precipitation should depart before 9 am.
As the warm front lifts north, southwest winds will take over. Winds speeds will increase to around 10 mph with a few gusts as high as 30 mph.
Sunshine will remain limited thanks to a deck of thin clouds, but it will not be a completely overcast day, either. The sun should shine through the clouds and may come out in full from time to time.
With the winds, any sunshine will only help temperatures soar. Look for highs this afternoon in the mid 70s.
Late in the day, dewpoints will creep into the upper half of the 50s while a subtle impulse of atmospheric energy passes through. This should touch off a few more showers and isolated thunderstorms.
The best chances for this happening will be in the waning hours of the afternoon and into the first couple hours after sunset. Again, not at all areas will see rain.
If thunderstorms do manage to develop, there is a small chance for some locally strong wind gusts accompanying the storms.
Skies will be mixed through the overnight, but south winds will persist. This will keep nighttime temperatures well into the 50s.

Thursday: Sun and clouds. Midday showers and maybe a thunderstorm. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Midday highs in the low 70s. Afternoon temperatures in the upper 50s.
Friday: Sunny with afternoon clouds and a late shower. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.
Saturday: Sun and clouds. Perhaps a few stray showers. Morning lows around 40. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.
Sunday: Breezy. Clouds and perhaps a flurry through the morning hours. Some late clearing in the afternoon. Morning lows around 30. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.
