Varsity Softball: Homer vs. Mexico

The Homer Lady Trojans lost a close game to Mexico with a final score of 5-7.

“Although we lost today to Mexico, I was pleased with how we bounced back from a tough game yesterday where we did not play our best softball,” said Homer head coach Cris Colasurdo. “The players did a much better job defensively only having 2 errors this game.”

The Lady Trojans were led by Cecelia Rappleyea (2 runs, 2 hits & 1 RBI), Catherine Apker (1 run & 1 hit), Jenna Henderson (1 run & 1 hit), Lillian Luety (1 hit & 1 RBI), Sara Cargen (1 run), and Morgan Brown (1 RBI), Melina Hage (1 hit).

Varsity Softball: Marathon vs. Southern Cayuga

The Marathon Lady Olympians lost a difficult game to Southern Cayuga with a score of 5-9 Wednesday afternoon.

“We were out-pitched tonight as our catcher and pitcher struggled,” said Marathon head coach Jamie Bush. “We did finally find our bats as we out hit Southern Cayuga with 9 hits to their 3. Sezja Brooks hit a long ball to center field that they were able to catch to end any chance of a comeback. If they had a homerun fence that could have been three runs and made for an interesting final at bat. Southern Cayuga is much improved and we knew going into this game that we needed to play better and we did not tonight.”

With this loss, the Lady Olympians fell to a 2-2 record.

Note: individual stats of the game were not available by the time this article was written.

Marathon’s next game is scheduled to be played at home against Trumansburg Central today (April 14th) at 4:30pm.
