Spring is a time for a change, to gain a feeling of empowerment and self-confidence, so why not participate in Girls Day Out or join us for one of the many programs we offer for children and adults!
On May 21, 2022, YWCA Cortland will be hosting the 20th Annual Girls Day Out, a day for girls in grades 4-7 to participate in a full day of activities that work to engage, motivate, and empower them in many aspects of their lives.
The day includes self-defense training and swimming, educational activities based on building self-confidence, an interactive career fair with women from the Cortland community, and more! Registration is now open.
YWCA Cortland’s children’s swimming and gymnastics start as young as six weeks and go to age 16, and the sessions run throughout the summer. The skills taught in these classes will help with your child’s strength, flexibility, and overall well-being. Get them out of the house and into a pool this summer!
Beginning May 31, we are excited to be offering a 4-week pro-active self-defense course for children in grades 5-8 and a separate class for adults ages 16 and up. Students will learn the aspects of personal security and safety but, more importantly, the skills needed to deescalate a dangerous situation before it leads to physical conflict.

For adults, we are offering programs that will not only improve your strength, balance, and flexibility, but they will energize you and make you feel great! If you are looking to focus on movement with breath, try Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga with instructor Sonya Langan-Petrucco. The class runs in a 4-week session that meets every Tuesday, from April 12-May 3. Want something more high energy? Learn a new sport! Pickleball is a fun, active way to enjoy some healthy competition. Our Beginner Pickleball Workshop meets every Thursday from April 21-May 12. Want more pickleball after the workshop ends? Sign up for open pickleball offered in the morning and evening or our beginner open pickleball time on Mondays, 4:30-6:30 pm.
