Varsity Baseball: Late Push Helps Homer Take Down Solvay

The Homer Trojans defeated Solvay with a score of 4-2 on the road on Thursday (April 14th). 

The Trojans were down 1-2 after the fifth inning, but they scored three unanswered runs in the sixth inning. 

With this win, the Trojans improved their record to 4-1 overall. 

The Trojans were led by Ian Gilbert (1 run, 3 hits & 1 RBI), Joey Case (1 run & 1 hit), Tanner Douglass (1 run & 1 hit), Tristan Allen (1 run), Mitchell Earle (1 RBI), Zander Johnson (1 RBI), Braden Marsh (1 hit), and Jon Barnes (1 hit). 

Solvay was led by Samuel Gonzalez (1 run & 1 hit), Jaylen King (1 run & 1 hit), Robert Tarolli (1 hit & 1 RBI), Jordan Dippold (1 hit & 1 RBI), Justin Palmisano (1 hit), and Jonathan Gonzalez Perez (1 hit). 

Here is a score breakdown of yesterday’s game: 

Johnson threw a total of 4 strikeouts from the mound. According to Homer head coach Robert Nasiatka, Zander Johnson had a great pitching performance “with some real clutch hitting in the bottom of the order.” 

During the game Tristan Allen also threw 1 strikeout for Homer.  

Solvay pitchers Daniel Mrowinski and Jaylen King combined for a total of 10 strikeouts thrown in the game. Mrowinski threw 8 strikeouts, while King threw 2 strikeouts.

Up next, Homer is scheduled to play Dryden today (April 15th) at noon in the first round of the  “Partigianoni Tournament” being held at Gutchess Lumber Sports Park.
