Cortland Purple Tigers Win Partigianoni Tournament vs. Homer, Dryden & Moravia (Photos of Each Game Included)

The Cortland Purple Tigers won the Partigianoni Tournament Friday afternoon after beating Homer in the championship game. 

The Tournament took place at the Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex. 

Participating teams of the tournament included Cortland, Homer, Dryden, and Moravia. 

First Round

In the first round of the tournament Cortland defeated Moravia 24-3 and Homer defeated Dryden 9-5 in order for both Cortland County teams to advance to the championship game.

Cortland vs. Moravia

The Cortland Purple Tigers beat Moravia in four innings after a mercy rule was called. 

The Tigers were led by Andrew Partigianoni (3 runs, 3 hits & 6 RBI’s), Caden Albright (2 runs, 4 hits & 4 RBI’s), Max Gambitta (4 runs & 3 hits), Tyler Blake (2 runs, 1 hit & 3 RBI’s), Kooper Knabe (2 runs, 1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Ethan Johnson (2 runs, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Scott Hourigan (2 runs, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Christopher Yang (2 runs & 3 RBI’s), Alexander Dintino (1 run & 1 hit), Caden Congdon (1 run & 1 RBI), Luke Rogoff (1 run), Tyler Gilbert (1 run), Liam Woodward (1 run), and Constantine Souzas (1 RBI). 

Cortland pitchers Scott Hourigan and Luke Rogoff threw a combined total of 9 strikeouts in the game. Hourigan threw 7 strikeouts, while Rogoff threw 2 strikeouts.

Homer vs. Dryden

The Homer Trojans beat Dryden 9-5 in the first round of the tournament. 

The Trojans were led  by Braden Marsh (3 runs & 2 hits), Mitchell Earle (1 run, 1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Tanner Douglass (1 run, 1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Joey Case (1 run, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Tristan Allen (1 run), Ian Gilbert (1 run), and Maddox Johnson (1 run & 1 hit).  

Nolan Wiek (1 run, 2 hits & 2 RBI’s), Connor Boothroyd (1 run & 1 hit), Mitch Shipman (2 hits & 2 RBI’s), Zach Wiser (1 run & 2 hits), Owen Strictland (1 run), Johnny Pascarella (1 hit & 1 RBI), and Colton Dow (1 run). 

Homer pitchers Tristan Allen (3), Maddox Johnson (2), and Joey Case (1) threw a total of 6 strikeouts in the game; while Dryden pitchers Mitch Shipman (5) and Colton Dow (6) threw a combined total of 11 strikeouts.

Championship Game

Cortland vs. Homer

The Cortland Purple Tigers beat the Homer Trojans after Andrew Partigianoni scored a run off an RBI from Tyler Blake in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the Partigianoni Tournament. The Tigers won with a final score of 8-7. 

Cortland was led by Caden Congdon (2 runs, 2 hits & 2 RBI’s), Tyler Blake (1 run, 2 hits & 3 RBI’s), Max Gambitta (1 run & 2 hits), Andrew Partigianoni (2 runs & 2 hits), Caden Albright (1 run & 1 hit), Ethan Johnson (1 RBI), and Scott Hourigan (1 run, 1 hit & 1 RBI). 

Homer was led by Tanner Douglass (1 run, 1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Jeffrey Stauber (1 run, 1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Joey Case (1 run & 1 hit), Tristan Allen (1 run & 1 hit), Braden Marsh (1 hit & 1 run), Mitchell Earle (1 run, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Maddox Johnson (1 hit & 1 RBI), Ian Gilbert (1 run), and Zander Johnson (1 hit). 

Cortland pitchers Tyler Blake (11) and Caden Congdon (1) threw a total of 12 strikeouts in the game; while Mitchell Earle (6) and Joey Case (2) threw 8 strikeouts for Homer.
