Your Cortland County weather forecast for Saturday, April 16, 2022:

A slow moving cold front will drop south through the area today, keeping the weather chilly and unsettled.

Precipitation will be the steadiest and most widespread through the morning and early afternoon hours. Much of what falls will actually fall as snow, though rain will be more likely both early on this morning and during the midday and early afternoon.

Some of the snow could come down heavily at times this morning, leading to some minor accumulations on grassy and elevated surfaces.

The precipitation will wind down this afternoon and some sun will attempt to shine before the day is done.

Tonight, skies will be mixed with a few occasional flurries. Little to no additional snow accumulation is expected.

Temperatures will fall into the mid 30s this morning as the front sinks south. Some southern parts of the county may remain warmer through the mid morning if the front is a bit slower to move south.

From there, temperatures will remain steady through the midday hours before nudging upward in the afternoon. Higher elevations in the northern part of the county may not escape the upper 30s, but much of the county should be near or slightly above 40 degrees.

The temperature will back slowly into the mid and then low 30s this evening with overnight lows in the mid 20s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Sunday: Breezy. Morning clouds and flurries. A gradual increase in sunshine for the afternoon. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Monday: Morning sun replaced by afternoon clouds. Some rain and/or snow late. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 50s, but dropping quickly in the late afternoon.

Tuesday: Rain and snow showers likely. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Wednesday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows around 30. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.
