Your Cortland County weather forecast for Sunday, April 17, 2022:

It will be a chilly Easter Sunday but the end of the day has some hope for sunshine.

For the morning, it will be breezy and cold. Temperatures will stick to the 30s with northwest winds blowing at 10-15 mph. Top gusts will be around 35 mph.

With the cold northwest winds, Lake Ontario will team up with some broader atmospheric moisture to produce a spray of snow showers through the region. A few areas could see a coating to an inch of accumulation, but travel should be minimally impacted.

During the afternoon, the winds will lessen, and dry air will move into the region. Snow showers will end, and some sun may manage to break through the clouds before the day is done.

Temperatures in the afternoon should poke their way into low 40s, though some hilltops in the northern part of the county may fail to quite reach 40 degrees.

Skies will be clear tonight with winds gradually becoming light and variable. Temperatures will fall through the 30s during the evening and end up in the mid 20s overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Monday: Morning sun replaced by afternoon clouds. Some rain late, changing to snow after sunset. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 50s, but dropping quickly in the late afternoon.

Tuesday: Rain and snow showers likely. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Wednesday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows around 30. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Thursday: More clouds than sun. A few stray showers. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.
