Cortland Weather Outlook: Thursday, April 21

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, April 21, 2022:

A small weather system will pass through the region today with some rain showers.

Skies will be mostly cloudy through the morning. The chances for any glimpses of sunshine will diminish by midday with rain showers moving in for the afternoon hours.

The rain will be on and off for much of the afternoon. Heavy rain is not expected with rainfall amounts staying well under a quarter of an inch.

Blustery south winds will blow throughout the morning and much of the afternoon. Wind speeds will be 10-15 mph with gusts as high as 35 mph. The strongest winds will be over the higher elevations.

Temperatures will nose their way to around 50 degrees this afternoon. A few of the hilltops will stick to the upper 40s.

The rain will depart late this afternoon. Winds will decrease, but remain out of the southwest until after midnight, when they will turn to the northwest.

Evening temperatures will not drop much, even as skies begin to clear. Look for temperatures in the mid 40s. 

Once the wind shifts overnight, temperatures will drop more substantially, quickly reaching the mid 30s.

Friday: Sunny with some thin clouds. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Saturday: More clouds than sun. Maybe a shower. Morning lows near 30. Afternoon highs near 60.

Sunday: A good deal of sunshine. Warm. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Monday: Sun and clouds. Some late rain possible. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs near 70.
