Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (April 21st)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Thursday's events:

Varsity Softball: Homer vs. Westhill

The Homer Lady Trojans lost 3-18 against Westhill Thursday afternoon. 

Homer was led by Catherine Apker (2 runs & 1 hit), Alexis Small (1 run & 1 hit), Sara Cargen (2 hits), Jenna Henderson (1 hit), and Cecelia Rappleyea (1 hit).

Westhill was led by Hannah Schmitz (2 runs, 3 hits & 2 RBI’s), Alexa Korrie (1 run, 2 hits & 4 RBI’s), Kalista Czaplicki (2 runs, 2 hits & 2 RBI’s), Sydney Bistrovich (2 runs, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Catherine Cottrell (2 runs), Sarah Balduzzi (3 runs, 2 hits & 3 RBI’s), and Nicoletta Scrimale (2 runs, 2 hits & 2 RBI’s). 

With this loss, the Lady Trojans now hold a 1-3 overall record. 

Homer’s next game is scheduled to be played against Jordan-Elbridge this Saturday (April 23rd) on the road at noon. 

Varsity Softball: Cincinnatus vs. Stockbridge Valley (SBV)

The Cincinnatus Lady Lions lost 5-20 against Stockbridge Valley (SBV). 

With this loss, Cincinnatus has fallen to a 1-2 record. 

Cincinnatus was led by Kayle Brenchley (1 run), Peyton Revrard (1 run), Lucy Finch (2 runs, 2 hits & 1 RBI), Bryer Torrance (1 run). 

SBV was led by Alyssa Enslow (4 runs, 2 hits & 1 RBI), Nevaeh Randel (2 runs, 2 hits & 3 RBI’s), Alissa Mazzye (2 runs, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Abby Reed (2 hits & 1 RBI), Abby Smith (1 run & 1 RBI), Layla Jayson (3 hits & 2 RBI’s), Peyton Graham (3 runs & 2 hits), Sarah Hofmeister (4 runs, 2 hits & 2 RBI’s), and Paige Webb (3 hits). 

Up next, Cincinnatus will play Tully on the road today (April 22nd) at 4:30pm. 

Varsity Baseball: Cincinnatus vs. Stockbridge Valley (SBV)

The Cincinnatus Lions lost 1-21 against Stockbridge Valley (SBV) on Thursday.

Cincinnatus was led by Cason Stafford (1 run & 1 hit) and Scott Schuyler (1 hit & 1 RBI). 

Note: Individual stats for Stockbridge Valley were not available by the time this article was written. 

With this loss, Cincinnatus has fallen to a 1-1 record. 

Cincinnatus’ next game will be at home against DeRuyter on Monday (April 25th) at 4:30pm. 

Varsity Baseball: Cortland vs. Jamesville-Dewitt

The Cortland Purple Tigers beat Jamesville-Dewitt 10-3 to improve to a 7-0 overall record.

Up next, Cortland will take on Jamesville-Dewitt again today (April 22nd) at 5pm. However, today’s game will take place on the road at Jamesville-Dewitt High School. 

Varsity Boys Lacrosse: Cortland vs. Central Square

The Cortland Purple Tigers lost 5-16 against Central Square, bringing them down to an 0-6 record. 

The Tigers were led by Derek Myers (3 goal), Benjamin McGrath (1 goal), and Ryan Kline (1 goal). 

Central Square was led by Jeffrey Meyers (3 goals), Cameron Johnson (3 goals), Cian Shaughnessy (3 goals), Cole Barnhart (1 goal), Braden Lucas (1 goal), Nicholas Winks (1 goal), and Ryan Watrous (1 goal). 

Up next, Cortland is scheduled to host Auburn on Monday (April 25th) at 7pm. 

Varsity Boys Lacrosse: Homer vs. Skaneateles

The Homer Trojans defeated Skaneateles 12-4 on the road Thursday night. 

With this win, the Trojans now hold an overall record of 4-2. 

The Trojans were led by Jake Calabro (3 goals & 5 assists), Hunter Riehlman (3 goals & 1 assist), Wyatt Wilbur (1 goal & 1 assist), Sam Bieber (2 goals), Logan Goodman (1 assist), and Reid Partis (3 goals). 

Skaneateles was led by Sean Kerwick (2 goals & 2 assists), Colin Morrissey (1 goal & 1 assist), and Charlie Carbonaro (1 goal).  

Homer’s next game will be at home against Johnson City on Saturday (April 23rd) at 4pm. 

Varsity Girls Lacrosse: Cortland vs. Central Square

The Cortland Lady Tigers lost 8-12 against Central Square Thursday night. 

With this loss, the Lady Tigers now hold an 0-2 record.

Up next, Cortland will host Nottingham (Syracuse) tonight (April 22nd) at Cortland High School. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:30pm.
