Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (April 23rd & 24th)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from this past weekend’s (April 23rd & 24th) events:

Varsity Softball: Homer vs. Jordan Elbridge

The Homer varsity softball team lost a tough game to Jordan Elbridge on Saturday with a final score of 1-20. 

Homer’s only run of the game was scored by Sara Cargen. 

Jordan Elbridge was led by Ava Hildebrant (3 runs, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Madelynn Maldonado (2 runs, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Erin LaVancha (1 run, 2 hits & 4 RBI’s), Isabella Jay (2 runs), Riley Hill (1 run), Abby Delfavero (3 runs), Alexis DelFavero (3 runs, 1 hit & 3 RBI’s), Cameron Fraher (2 runs & 2 RBI’s), and Abigail Ahern (3 runs, 3 hits & 4 RBI’s). 

Up next, Homer will host Syracuse City today (April 25th) at 4:30pm. 

Varsity Boys Lacrosse: Homer vs. Johnson City

 The Homer Trojans lost 9-15 against Johnson City on Saturday. 

Homer was led by Hunter Riehlman (3 goals & 2 assists), Sam Bieber (1 goal), Logan Goodman (1 goal & 9 assist), Reid Partis (1 goal & 1 assist), Jake Calabro (3 goals & 5 assists).  

Note: Individual stats for Johnson City were not available by the time this article was written. 

Up next, Homer will take on Tully at home this Tuesday (April 26th) at 7pm. 

Varsity Girls Lacrosse: Homer vs. Johnson City

The Homer Lady Trojans defeated Johnson City 19-1 at home on Saturday.

Varsity Track & Field: Marathon vs. Multiple Schools

The Marathon Olympians competed in the “Moravia Blue Devil's Invitational'' this past Saturday (April 23rd) against five other schools (Moravia, Groton, Southern Cayuga, Trumansburg, and Union Springs).

Varsity Baseball: Cortland vs. Fulton

The Cortland Purple Tigers beat Fulton in both games of a double-header on Sunday (April 24th)

Cortland won the first game 13-5 and the second game 9-0. 

Game 1

Cortland was led by Max Gambitta (2 runs, 3 hits & 3 RBI’s), Tyler Blake (1 run), Caden Congdon (1 run & 1 hit), Ethan Hay (1 run, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Kooper Knabe (2 runs & 1 hit), Andrew Partigianoni (1 run, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Caden Albright (3 runs, 4 hits & 3 RBI’s), Luke Rogoff (1 run), Scott Hourigan (1 run, 2 hits & 2 RBI’s), and Evan Shank (1 hit & 1 RBI). 

Fulton was led by Will Patterson (1 run & 2 hits), Ethan Weaver (1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Brock Tetro (1 run, 1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Trent Farrands (1 hit), Kyle Stuber (2 runs & 1 hit), and Sam Cotton (1 run & 2 hits). 

Game 2

Cortland was led by Max Gambitta (1 run), Tyler Blake (1 run, 2 hits & 3 RBI’s), Caden Congdon (2 runs, 2 hits & 1 RBI), Ethan Hay (1 run), Andrew Partigianoni (1 run & 1 hit), Caden Albright (2 runs), Austin Cotterill (1 hit), Alexander Dintino (1 hit), Scott Hourigan (1 run & 1 hit), and Christopher Yang (1 hit). 

Fulton was led by Ethan Weaver (1 hit), Kyle Stuber (2 hits), and Sam Cotton (2 hits).
