Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (April 26th)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Tuesday’s events:

Varsity Boys Lacrosse: Homer vs. Tully

The Homer Trojans defeated Tully 14-12 in order to improve to an overall record of 5-3. 

Homer was led by Reid Partis (5 goals & 2 assists), Jake Calabro (4 goals & 3 assists), Hunter Riehlman (3 goals & 2 assists), Evan Butts (1 goal & 1 assist), Wyatt Wilbur (1 goal & 1 assist), and Logan Goodman (1 assist). 

Tully was led by Thomas Berry (7 goals & 1 assist), Lane Edinger (2 goals & 3 assists), Michael Reid (1 goal & 1 assist), Kevin Wood (1 goal & 1 assist), and Brian Kelly (1 goal). 

Homer goalie Benjamin Bradhaw made 12 saves in the game, while Ryan Shute made 4 saves for Tully. 

Homer’s next game will be against Jordan-Elbridge on the road this Thursday (April 28th) at 6:30pm. 

Varsity Girls Lacrosse: Homer vs. Tully

The Homer Lady Trojans beat Tully 15-5 to improve to a 6-1 record. 

During the game Kloey Roos scored her 200th career goal. 

Homer was led by Kloey Ross (7 goals & 1 assist), Hannah Slade (3 goals & 3 assists), Gracie Patriarco (2 goals & 3 assists), Maria Partis (2 goals), Sydney O'Donnell (1 goal & 1 assist), and Sarah Sovocool (3 saves). 

Tully was led by Catherine Lund (1 goal), Madelyn Lund (1 goal), Emily Malchak (1 goal), Ava Lee (1 goal), Samantha Garback (1 goal), and Mary Babbage (10 saves). 

Up next, Homer is scheduled to host Jordan-Elbridge on Thursday (April 28th) at 7pm.  

Varsity Softball: Cortland vs. Central Square

The Cortland Lady Tigers lost 0-10 against Central Square on Tuesday, bringing their overall record down to 0-3. 

The Tigers were led by Brenna Hogan (1 hit & 5 strikeouts thrown) and Molly Steve (1 hit). 

Central Square was led by Rylee Broadwell (2 runs, 2 hits & 1 RBI), Carley Cinquemani (1 run, 2 hits & 2 RBI’s), Natalee Crandall (1 run & 1 hit), Jaliynn Patchen (2 runs, 1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Payton St Clair (1 run, 2 hits & 1 RBI), Natalie Bush (1 run, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Kayla Tarquinio (1 run & 1 hit), and Caitliyn Redeye (1 run, 2 hits, 1 RBI & 9 strikeouts thrown). 

Up next, Cortland will take on Syracuse on the road this Thursday (April 28th) at 4:30pm. 

Varsity Softball: Homer vs. Jordan-Elbridge

The Homer Lady Trojans lost 5-22 against Jordan-Elbridge. With this loss, the Lady Trojans have fallen to a 1-6 record. 

Homer was led by Cecelia Rappleyea(1 run, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Catherine Apker (3 runs & 2 hits), Jenna Henderson (2 hits & 3 RBI’s), and Riley Johnson (5 strikeouts thrown). 

Jordan-Elbridge was led by Ava Hilldebrant (2 runs, 1 hit & 2 RBI’s), Isabella Jay (1 hit), Riley Hill (2 runs, 1 hit & 3 RBI’s), Abby Delfavero (3 runs, 3 hits, 3 RBI’s & 1 strikeout thrown), Claire Brown (1 hit), Alexis Delfavero (3 runs, 3 hits, 4 RBI’s & 8 strikeouts thrown), Cameron Fraher (2 runs), Abigail Ahearn (3 runs & 1 RBI), Sarah Lane (2 runs, 2 hits & 2 RBI’s), Heather Sorts (3 runs & 1 RBI), Erin Lavancha (2 runs & 1 RBI). 

Up next, Homer will play Phoenix at home on Thursday (April 28th) at 4:30pm. 

Varsity Baseball: Cincinnatus vs. Brookfield

The Cincinnatus Lions lost 0-9 against Brookfield on Tuesday. 

With this loss, the Lions now hold a 1-3 record.

Up next, Cincinnatus will take on DeRuyter on the road this upcoming Saturday (April 30th) at 10am. 

Varsity Boys Golf: Marathon vs. Lansing

The Marathon Olympians lost against Lansing Tuesday afternoon with a team score of 194-149. (Reminder: Lowest score in golf wins).
