Your Cortland County weather forecast for Wednesday, April 27, 2022:

Snow is back in the air today as cold northwest winds usher in the latest blitz of chilly weather.

The snow showers will be on and off today, but especially focused on the morning hours. Individual bouts of snow should not last long, but could have some brief bursts that reduce visibility and coat grassy and elevated surfaces.

Any snow that manages to accumulate during these bursts will likely melt between the snow showers. By the afternoon, rain will mix in with the snow as precipitation becomes increasingly scarce.

Northwest winds will blow steadily at 10-15 mph with gusts as high as 35 mph. Skies should remain mostly cloudy into the evening.

All of this will add up to highs struggling into the low 40s this afternoon.

Tonight, skies will gradually clear as high pressure builds in from the northwest. By dawn Thursday, clouds should be completely out of the picture.

Temperatures this evening will slip to the mid 30s with overnight lows ending up around 30 degrees.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Thursday: Sunny, breezy and cool. Morning lows around 30. Afternoon highs in the low and mid 40s.

Friday: Sunny. Still a bit breezy. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Saturday: More sunshine. Morning lows near 30. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.

Sunday: Sunny and a bit warmer. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.
