Your Cortland County weather forecast for Sunday, May 1, 2022:

Some changes to the weather pattern will take place today as high pressure departs the area.

Clouds will build in early this morning and persist for much of the day. The sun may be able to shine through some of the overcast this morning, but thicker clouds are expected for the afternoon.

A stray shower this afternoon cannot be totally ruled out either, but any rain that falls will still have quite a bit of dry air to overcome and thus may not reach the ground.

The chances for a few showers will increase this evening, but still, many areas will see little to no rain.

Another significant change from recent days will be a switch in wind direction to the southeast. Daytime wind speeds will be near or just over 5 mph with evening wind speeds increasing to 10 mph. Top gusts both during the day and tonight will be around 20 mph.

The southerly winds will push temperatures into low and mid 60s this afternoon. Evening temperatures will drop to near or just under 50 degrees, with mid 40s overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Monday: More clouds than sun. Some showers. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Wednesday: Scatted showers. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Thursday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.
