Cortland Weather Outlook: Wednesday, May 4

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Wednesday, May 4, 2022:

Low pressure will pass overhead this morning with some additional showers in its wake.

The best chance for rain today will be during the second half of the morning and the first half of the afternoon. Stray showers will be possible outside of this time as well.

None of the rain should be overly heavy, but it could be persistent during the midday hours.

Skies will remain cloudy throughout the day but will start to break up this evening as high pressure builds in behind the low.

With the low passing overhead, winds will go from the south this morning ahead of the low, to the north this afternoon behind the low. 

Wind speeds will generally remain at or below 10 mph, though during the wind shift period, the winds will be even lighter. Top gusts will be 20-25 mph, both early this morning and late this afternoon.

Temperatures should top out near or a bit above 60 degrees during the midday hours. The afternoon will likely lose a couple degrees from there.

After sunset, temperatures will drop into the 40s. The evening will have upper and mid 40s, while the overnight will end up in the low 40s.

Thursday: Sun mixing with increasing and thickening clouds. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.

Friday: Clouds with a chance for some rain late. Morning lows near 40. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Saturday: Periods of rain possible. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.

Sunday: Becoming sunny. Morning lows around 40. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.
