Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (May 4th)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Wednesday’s events:

Varsity Boys Lacrosse: Cortland vs. Jamesville-Dewitt

The Cortland Purple Tigers have fallen to an 0-10 record after losing a tough game against Jamesville-Dewitt with a score of 2-21.

During the game, Cortland was led by Bodey McGrath (1 goal & 1 assist), Ben McGrath (1 goal), Declan Vail (1 save), and Matt Honan (8 saves).

Note: Individual stats for Jamesville-Dewitt were not available by the time this article was written.

Up next, Cortland is scheduled to take on Fulton at home tonight at 7pm.

The Cortland Purple Tigers competed in a three-way meet against Central Square and Jamesville-Dewitt on Wednesday.

Jack Ryan won 1st place in the 110 meter high hurdles (Time- 18.8). He also placed 4th in the 400 meter hurdles (Time- 71.1) and finished 5th in the high jump event (Result- 5’2”).
Jack Waldbauer finished 2nd in the 110 meter high hurdles (Time- 19.0).
Jack Phelan placed 3rd in the 100 meter dash (Time- 11.7). He also placed 4th in the long jump event (Result- 18’6.25”) and the high jump event (5’4”).
Thomas Johnson came in 6th place in the 100 meter dash (Time- 13.0).
Jared Valentin won 1st place in the 1,600 meter run (Time- 4:43.1) and the 3,200 meter run (Time- 10:34.8).
Asa Terwilliger placed 5th in the 400 meter run (Time 57.9).
Duncan Harbin placed 4th in the shot put event (Result- 37’2.5”) and the discus throw event (Result- 88’11”).
Bryan Honan came in 2nd in the discus throw event (Result- 95’5”).

Highlights

Campbell Bush won 1st place in the 110 meter high hurdles (Time- 17.7). She also placed 5th in the 200 meter dash (Time- 30.3) and placed 6th in the long jump event (13’3.5”).
Sarah Williams placed 4th in the 400 meter hurdles (Time- 91.6). She also came in 5th in the 110 meter high hurdles (Time- 24.5).
Celeste Perkins won 1st place in the long jump event (Result- 15’3) and the triple jump event (Result- 33’2.5”). She also came in 4th in the 100 meter dash (Time- 14.0).
Ella Ligas placed 5th in the 100 meter dash (Time- 14.1) and in the 400 meter run (Time- 69.5).
Ruby Mullally finished 2nd in the 1,600 meter run (Time- 6:05.8). She also came in 3rd in the 3,200 meter run (Time- 13:11.1).
Ella Quick won 1st place in the 400 meter run (Time- 61.6).
Chaenaya Underwood came in 4th in the 400 meter run (Time- 68.9). She also placed 2nd in the pole vault event (Result- 6’6”).
Rileigh Madden placed 6th in the shot put event (Result- 21’5”).
Hannah Guernsey placed 3rd in the triple jump event (Result- 29’5.25”).
Alex Gier placed 3rd in the high jump event (Result- 4'6").
Morgann Doane came in 4th in the high jump event (Result- 4'2").
