Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, May 5, 2022:

High pressure will bring quiet weather for today, though clouds out ahead of the next weather maker will slowly build in.

The clouds that move in during the daytime hours will be thin and should still allow plenty of sunshine through. It will not be until later in the afternoon that clouds start to become thicker and possibly filter the sunshine a noticeable amount.

Clouds will continue to thicken through the evening and overnight, but no rain is expected.

The center of high pressure will be to our northwest over Canada, so winds will be out of the north. Wind speeds will be light at around 5 mph with top gusts of 15-20 mph.

The northerly flow will keep temperatures close to the seasonal averages in the low 60s. A few southern parts of the county could sneak towards the mid 60s.

Tonight, temperatures will quickly drop to the mid 40s, then only drop a few more degrees from there overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Friday: Clouds with a chance for some rain late. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.

Saturday: Periods of rain possible. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.

Sunday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.

Monday: Sunny with a few thin clouds. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.
