Your Cortland County weather forecast for Saturday, May 7, 2022:

Low and high pressure systems will continue to play tug-of-war over control of our region, but the high pressure should have more success today.

It will be another overcast day with the low nearby, but most of the rain today should remain to the south. That does not mean the occasional shower will not be possible, but by and large, it should be a mostly dry day.

The best chance for any stray rain showers will be in the morning and midday. By the afternoon, the rain will retreat further to the south as the low pressure begins to depart.

Tonight, clouds will break up and skies will gradually turn mostly clear overnight.

Winds will blow out of the northeast at 5-10 mph. A few wind gusts could just eclipse the 20 mph mark, especially during the late morning and afternoon hours.

Temperatures will be held down by the wind and clouds. Afternoon highs will be in the mid 50s, which is close to ten degrees below the seasonal average.

Tonight, temperatures will drop through the 40s and end up in the mid 30s. A few frosty pockets of low 30s may be possible.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Sunday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs near 60.

Monday: Sunny. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Tuesday: More sunshine. Morning lows in the upper 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.

Wednesday: Sun and a few clouds. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.
