Man faces charges in multiple municipalities

An out-of-town man is facing stolen property charges in three separate municipalities within Cortland County, according to a county sheriff’s report.

The report states that Jason S. Gassner, 37 of Lincklaen (Chenango County), has charges in the towns of Homer and Cortlandville, and the city of Cortland. Gassner’s stolen property incidents took place between October 2020 and April of this year, the report continues.

According to the report, the incidents that Gassner was involved in are as follows:

  • Town of Cortlandville: in possession of a stolen credit card that he used at multiple businesses in October 2020.
  • Town of Homer: in possession of stereo equipment that was reported stolen in October 2020.
  • City of Cortland: in possession of “unrelated reported” stolen stereo equipment in April of this year.

Gassner has been charged with three counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property (a Class-D Felony) and three counts of petit larceny (a Class-A Misdemeanor) in Cortlandville; one count of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property (a Class-A Misdemeanor) in Homer; and another count of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property (a Class-A Misdemeanor) in Cortland.

Gassner was arrested Friday afternoon, the report notes. He went through the centralized arraignment program and is currently being held at the county jail without bail.

Court dates for Gassner in each of three municipalities have yet to be determined.
