Section IV released brackets for each of the class tournaments on Wednesday.
The Marathon varsity softball team (8-6 record) is the third seed in the Section IV Class D Tournament. The Olympians received a bye in the first round.
Marathon will host a quarterfinal round matchup at 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 23. The Olympians’ opponent will be 11th-seeded Windham-Ashland-Jewett.
Marathon's opponent was determined from the winner of the May 19 first round matchup between 11th-seeded Windham-Ashland-Jewett (5-5) and 6th-seeded Gilboa-Conesville (8-3).
(Note: There was a day/time change from the original article. Marathon was supposed to play their quarterfinal game on Tuesday, May 24th; but now they will play on Monday, May 23rd at 4:30 p.m.).
