Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, May 19, 2022:

An area of low pressure will cross the region today.

On and off rain showers are likely this morning and possibly into the midday hours. One or two of the showers could briefly become heavy with a couple rumbles of thunder.

No severe weather or flooding is expected.

The afternoon will trend drier as the low departs. Some sun should mix in with the clouds, especially in the latter half of the afternoon.

Winds will be changeable today as the low passes through. South winds early this morning will turn to the southwest. Wind speeds will be around 10 mph.

By the afternoon, the wind will turn again, this time to the northwest. Wind speeds may pick up a little through the mid-afternoon. Gusts could approach 30 mph during this time.

Tonight, the wind will go calm, then pick back up from the south after midnight.

Temperatures today will top out in the mid and upper 60s, which is right on the climatological average for the day. Evening temperatures will drop through the 50s and into the upper 40s. As the south winds pick up, temperatures will warm back towards 50 degrees by Friday morning.

Friday: Partly cloudy with blustery south winds. Morning lows around 50. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Hot. Maybe some late showers or storms. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs near 90.

Sunday: Rain and thunder possible. Morning lows in the upper 60s. Midday highs in the mid 80s, falling to the low 60s late.

Monday: An early shower. Some sun between clouds. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs near 60.
