Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, May 20, 2022:

Warm air will start to pump back into the region on gusty south winds today.

Wind speeds will increase this morning with speeds of 15-20 mph by the afternoon. Top gusts over 40 mph are likely.

Skies will be mixed today. There should be plenty of sunshine at times, while other times it will get cloudier. A few stray showers cannot be ruled out either, possibly with a couple rumbles of thunder.

Overall, most of the day should be dry, which will help temperatures to climb. Afternoon highs should be around or just above 80 degrees.

The south winds will persist tonight, though the wind speed will drop to around 10 mph. 

Skies should be mostly clear tonight with just an occasional patch of thin clouds drifting through.

It will be a warm night with evening temperatures slowly falling through the 60s and an overnight low in the low 60s.

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Hot. Maybe some late showers or storms. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs near 90.

Sunday: Afternoon thunderstorms, possible severe. Morning lows in the upper 60s. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 80s.

Monday: An early shower. Some sun between clouds. Morning lows near 50. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.

Tuesday: Clouds and some sun. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs near 70.
