Marathon Lady Olympians celebrate senior night with sectional quarterfinal win over Windham Ashland Jewett (photos included)

The Marathon Lady Olympians (#3 seed) defeated Windham Ashland Jewett (#11 seed) in the quarterfinal round of the Section IV Class D Tournament Monday afternoon with a score of 22-5. 

At the game, Marathon also celebrated senior night, where six of Marathon’s seniors were recognized (Sezja Brooks, Brie Carter, Lacie Peck, Paige Hurlburt, Brooke Tillotson, and Kassidy VanOrder).

According to Marathon head coach coach Jamie Bush, Brooke Tillotson started the game off with a home-run; and Brie Carter pitched a great game while having two home-runs, a triple, a bunt single, a walk. Carter also scored five times in the game.

Note: Other Individual stats of Marathon’s game vs. Windham Ashland Jewett were not available by the time this report was written. 

With this win, Marathon will now wait to see who their next opponent will be in the semifinal round of the sectional tournament. 

Marathon’s semifinal opponent will be determined after today’s (May 24th) matchup between Deposit-Hancock (#2 seed) and Morris-Edmeston (#7 seed). 

If Morris-Edmeston wins, Marathon will get a chance to host the semifinal round; but if Deposit-Hancock wins, Marathon will play them on the road this upcoming Thursday (May 26th) at 4:30pm.
