Homer baseball team takes down Bishop Grimes to advance to the sectional quarterfinals (photos included)

The 4th-seeded Homer Trojans took down Bishop Grimes (#13 seed) in the first round of the Section III Class B Tournament Tuesday afternoon. 

The Trojans won the game with a final score of 6-1. 

It was a tight game throughout the first five innings, with Homer taking a 2-1 lead by the bottom of the fifth. 

The Trojans were then able to score four runs in the bottom of the sixth to extend their lead with one final inning to go. 

Homer was then able to hold Bishop Grimes off to zero runs in the last inning to ultimately win the game.

During the game, Homer was led by Tristan Allen (2 runs, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Mitchell Earle (2 hits & 1 RBI), Zander Johnson (2 runs), Braden Marsh (1 run), Ian Gilbert (1 run & 1 hit), Tanner Douglass (1 hit & 2 RBI’s), and Joey Case (11 strikeouts thrown). 

Bishop Grimes was led by Nick Colagiovanni (1 run & 1 hit), RJ Benedetto (4 strikeouts thrown), and William Markwood (1 strikeout thrown). 

Up next, Homer is scheduled to play their sectional quarterfinal game at home against Marcellus (#12 seed) this Thursday (May 26th) at 5pm.
