A small wave of atmospheric energy will pass through the area this afternoon, touching off a few showers or light thunderstorms.

Dry conditions are expected through the morning with a mix of sunshine and small fair weather clouds.

As we head into the midday hours, the fair weather clouds will continue to grow as the energy associated with disturbance increases. A few stray showers may pop up as early as noon or 1 PM.

Most of the activity will hold off until the mid and late afternoon hours. Even then, the showers should remain scattered and small, with rain from any individual cell not lasting long.

Not all areas will see rain this afternoon, while other areas could see multiple showers. Any thunderstorm activity should be limited to some occasional rumbles of thunder.

Temperatures will top out around or just above 70 degrees this afternoon. Light southwest winds will blow at around 5 mph.

The disturbance will move out by the evening. Combined with the loss of daytime heating, the shower activity should come to a quick end around sunset.

Partly cloudy skies are expected overnight with an increasing chance for a few new showers towards dawn. Overnight temperatures should settle in the low 50s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Sunday: Morning showers, followed by scattered afternoon and evening showers and storms. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Monday: A few early showers. Then some sun. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Tuesday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Wednesday: Sun and clouds. Possibly some late thunder. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
